Possibly 1995 Model
Meaning: MG-X: Metal Grand - Extra (???)
Bias: Metal (Type IV)
Description/History:
This is Denon's flagship Metal Bias cassette, the MG-X. As far as I know, it only came in 100 minutes, but there may be 90 minute versions out there. It is not possible there is a 60 minute version. The shell is about the same weight as the Maxell XLII-S, maybe heavier. The shell also adds better protection so that the cassette doesn't get damaged.
As like all other Denon cassettes, you have to set the line in higher than usual to get the full sound of the cassette, but that is a formality from this diverse cassette. The Dolby settings is best with C, but Dolby B recordings have great warmth. I have found the best quality is from the digital sources and from LP vinyl.
The MG-X still remains a top choice among audiophilles, and gets snapped up on eBay at quite a price.
