1988 Model
1985 Model
Meaning: MA: Metal Alloy
Bias: Metal (Type IV)
Description/History:
The MA was introduced in 1981, and was pinned down at that time as the best metal cassette ever, and still is. The MA became the most widely used Metal cassette in the 80's. The MA adapted the 110 minute format in 1988, which was unusual for ANY tape. Everything always came in 15 minute increments. Usually, tapes came in 60 or 90 minutes for Metal and High Bias. Overall, the MA never changed much. It didn't need to. Sad to say though, in 2004, TDK has finally decided to not manufacture the MA anymore. But many others exist on websites and electronics stores. I'm sure they will have a clearence sale on them.
